As I sit down to write this it is almost 40 degrees in Spokane and a little bit rainy, what a difference from last year when we were shoveling snow and scraping ice like crazy. You could almost go for a boat ride in weather like this.
I would like to point out some of the differences in this years show and thank the exhibitors for their input. First you will notice that we will open the show on Saturday the 30th at 10:00 a.m. and will close the following Saturday the 6th of February at 8 p.m. This makes the Spokane Boat Show and Sale two days shorter than normal. So get in early and get a deposit on the boat or dock you have always wanted.
You will notice that we did not prepare a show program this year but instead will hand out a map and the Commodore’s welcome at the front door.
While you are here please stop by the Precision Propeller booth and donate to the Sheriff’s water rescue boat. These guy’s risk their lives to save us and keep us out of harm’s way.
Also the Corps of Engineer will have some information on the water species that are trying to take over our waterways. Please stop and see them and remember to clean off the bottom of your boat after you take it out of the water.
The Spokane Power Squadron will again offer America’s Boating course on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 in the conference room.
Some new seminars from how to set up a duck hunting boat to fishing the local lakes for bass are also in the works.
Also new for this year, anyone in uniform from the armed forces will gain free admission to the Spokane Boat Show. This is just our way of saying "Thank you" for all you do to keep us safe. Be sure they know they are appreciated.
Again your comments and suggestions are always welcome. We strive to bring you something new every year.
Hope to see you on the water.
Sincerely,
Scott Thompson
